Dear Residents,
We received the following information from Nassau County concerning the Bayville Bridge Project’s final stage of work. Hopefully, this will complete the project, and we will not have to worry about the bridge operation for many years to come.
Week of August 12th (Scheduled for August 12th to 15th):
- Roadway Traffic: The posted detour route is encouraged between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM due to increased short-term roadway closures, each lasting no more than 15 minutes. Traffic will be cleared between closures. While the detour is recommended to avoid delays, it is not mandatory.
- Marine Traffic: No impact anticipated; we will adhere to the hourly opening schedule.
Week of August 19th (Scheduled for August 20th & 21st):
- Roadway Traffic: The posted detour route is encouraged between 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM due to increased short-term roadway closures, each lasting no more than 15 minutes. Traffic will be cleared between closures. While the detour is recommended to avoid delays, it is not mandatory.
- Marine Traffic: No impact anticipated; we will follow the hourly opening schedule.
August 21st to 25th (Scheduled for August 22nd):
- Nighttime Roadway Closure: A tentative nighttime closure is planned from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Roadway traffic should use the posted detour during this time. Pedestrian crossings will be limited.
- Marine Traffic: The channel will be reduced in width, but marine traffic should not be affected due to the other leaf being operational and a bridge operator on standby.
Sincerely,
Peter Quick
