Dear Residents,
We have been advised by Nassau County of the following information concerning the Bayville Bridge.
To follow up the previous notification sent by NCDPW, please be advised that the Nighttime Roadway Closure has been scheduled. The details of the closure remain as follows:
- Nighttime Roadway Closure: Thursday September 5th closure is planned from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. During this time, roadway traffic will be directed to use the posted detour. Please note that pedestrian crossings will be limited.
- Marine Traffic: While the channel width will be reduced, marine traffic should remain unaffected, as the other leaf will be operational, and a bridge operator will be on standby.
Note that Tuesday September 3rd , and potentially Wednesday September 4th, Site Acceptance Testing/Commissioning of bridge machinery control system will be performed 8pm to 4:30am. A closure similar to one planned for September 5th is not being implemented but use of posted detour is encouraged for roadway traffic during this timeframe. During Testing/Commissioning, frequency of bridge operations will be similar to recent day activity. Roadway and pedestrian traffic will be cleared in-between operations.
