Bayville Bridge Rehabilitation
Travel Advisory
Dear Recipient,
We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to keep the community informed, we are reaching out to provide an update on the Bayville Bridge Rehabilitation.
Roadway Repairs:
Please be advised that starting Wednesday, October 29, 2025 (weather permitting), there will be intermittent lane closures on the Bayville Bridge. The work is necessary to repair a pothole that has developed on the bridge deck and to perform additional preventive repairs in similar areas.
Key Details:
Start Date: October 29, 2025 (weather permitting)
- Time: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Duration: One week
- Affected Area: Bayville Bridge
- Traffic Impacts:
- The northbound and southbound lanes will experience intermittent closures, with traffic alternating onto the opposite lane to maintain flow.
- Motorists are encouraged to take the detour route via Cleft Road to avoid delays.
While only minor travel delays are expected, the use of detours is not required; however, motorists are encouraged to follow posted detour signs to help minimize potential congestion.
Next Phase of Work:
Following the completion of the roadway repairs, crews will begin reinforcement work on the underside of the bridge deck. This will include steel beam strengthening in the same critical areas. Because this operation requires maintaining the bascule leaves in the open position, traffic will be temporarily detoured during nighttime hours.
- Duration: Two weeks (following completion of deck repairs)
- Work Hours: Overnight only
- Traffic Impact: A temporary detour via Cleft Road will be in place during nighttime operations. At the end of each night shift, the bridge will be fully reopened to traffic in the morning.
Another travel advisory will be issued prior to the start of the nighttime work.
We are committed to minimizing disruptions and ensuring public safety throughout this process. Appropriate traffic control measures will be implemented to facilitate safe and efficient travel during construction.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete these essential improvements.
